How To Get More People To Your YouTube Channel

You’ve started your own YouTube channel; congratulations! If you started your channel as a side hustle and would like to eventually grow this to become a business, then you’ve got to employ some digital marketing methods to grow your channel. This is where Pinterest comes in!

How Many Subscribers Do You Need To Make Money On Youtube?

It’s not just subscribers that matter when it comes to earning money on YouTube. Business Insider explains, “To start earning money directly from YouTube, creators must meet a threshold of 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million YouTube shorts views in the past 90 days.”

Once these milestones are reached, creators can benefit from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks, and the ability to promote their products with YouTube Shopping.

To qualify for AdSense (an advertising program to get ads into your videos), YouTubers must have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the past year.

How Do I Make My YouTube Channel Grow Faster?

First and foremost, you’ve got to ensure you’re providing a great user experience. This means:

  • Posting quality content that appeals to people and has great visuals and audio.

  • Consistently uploading videos so that you build an audience.

  • Use relevant keywords in your video titles, descriptions, and tags so that your content appears in search results. Do keyword research so that you know what your audience is searching for.

  • Analysing your YouTube analytics so that you know what content is resonating.

Once you’ve got a few videos under your belt and you’re confident to take the next step, it’s time to develop a marketing plan.

Social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok are great places to reach new people and bring them to your YouTube channel. Another platform to definitely not sleep on is Pinterest

Is Pinterest A Good Way To Market?

Simply put, yes! Pinterest is an amazing way to get your content in front of your ideal viewers.

According to Pinterest Business stats, 482 million people use Pinterest every month! That’s a bigger population than the USA! So it’s safe to say that your audience is most likely scrolling on Pinterest right now.

Plus, Pinterest is a fantastic free marketing option. While the platform does offer paid-for ads, organic marketing is the driving force behind Pinterest.

Pinners are also not people who scroll mindlessly – they’re on the platform for specific reasons! They’re looking for new things to do and try to improve their lives.

How Do I Market My YouTube Channel On Pinterest?

While Pinterest is a fantastic way to drive traffic to your YouTube channel, a Pinterest for YouTube strategy needs to go beyond just hitting the ‘Share’ button on YouTube after you post a video.

If you do this, your video is just going to upload to Pinterest as a horizontal pin, which is not in line with Pinterest's best practices. It’s better to design a separate pin through a program like Canva

Pinterest’s algorithm really favours vertical video or animated content. There are a few ways you can do this:

  • Add a snippet of your YouTube video to Canva and place it in the preferred dimensions to create a pin.

  • Film a video of yourself explaining your YouTube video for your pin.

  • Film a TikTok or Instagram Reel about your YouTube video and repurpose this content for Pinterest. (Make sure to remove any watermarks.)

No matter how you want to post your video pins, it’s essential to do your keyword research if you want your pins to be discovered.

Pinterest keyword research is super simple: All you need to do is type in related words in the search bar and see what suggestions pop up. You can also go on Pinterest Trends to see what topics are gaining traction on the platform. Then, use these keywords to create a description. Focus on the user experience, which means no keyword stacking.

Remember: Add a call to action like “Click the link to watch the full video!” or something like that to encourage your audience to take the next step.

Once you’ve got your pin and your description, it’s time to manually upload it to one of your Pinterest boards! Pinterest allows you to schedule pins up to a month in advance.

Tip: Pinterest loves fresh content posted regularly! So, try to pin at least once a day and leave a gap of around a month for repinning the same URL.

I hope these tips gave you a basic understanding of how to start using Pinterest to grow your YouTube channel! Happy pinning!
